The Hellenic Academic Libraries Link was established according to Article 17 of 3405/2005 legislation and its main purpose is to reserve resources and provide improved support services for the educational and research projects of its members. Specifically, the objectives of HEALINK include the coordinated improvement of the collections of individual academic libraries, the development of an interlibrary loan system operational at the national level, the design of common strategy on access to electronic resources for more efficient management of information resources for the country and the adoption of common standards and performance indicator services.
HEALINK members are all Higher Education Institutions in Greece (22 Universities and 14 TEI) as well as the Academy of Athens and the National Library of Greece. HEALLink also works, with a number of organizations in Greece and Cyprus, in the form of associated members. More specifically associate members are, the Pedagogical Institute, the Institute of Computer Technology and the research institutions supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology and three Universities in Cyprus.
